Being pregnant for the first time can be a scary and exciting at the same time.

Scary, because you have never dealt with this experience in the past and you have no idea how it feels. You keep thinking about all the pain that women go through from 9 months of pregnancy, the delivery, the postpartum …  to the exciting part, which is being a mom. You start feeling motherhood the moment, you find out you’re pregnant.

In my experience, I had a feeling that I was pregnant because I noticed some changes in my body, and a week after I decided to take the test and it was positive.

Those changes I am about to share with you, were my hints!

1) Glowing Skin

Pregnancy hormones “estrogen, and progesterone”, The glow comes from an increase in blood volume, more blood flow to the skin gives a ‘rosy’ appearance.

And I remember those days, I looked so pretty that everybody was commenting if I was using something to my face like a beauty mask. Even my hair became so soft and shiny.

2) Feeling Lazy and you Just want to sleep more!

From doctors’ points of view, pregnancy lowers your blood pressure and blood sugar which makes you feel tired.

I felt drowsy all the time specially during the afternoon and not sleepy at all during the night.

3) Bloating in the mid-section of the body

According to doctors, hormone progesterone increases to prepare the uterus during the first early months of pregnancy… Progesterone also slows digestion, which can trap the gas in the intestines that may cause abdominal bloating.

This one was my top red flag!  My tummy felt so bloated that it started to show on some clothes.

4) Sour mouth taste

It is called Dysgeusia, it’s a pregnancy hormone that change your sense of taste.

This usually happens when you wake up in the morning or when you haven’t eaten in a while. It’s like a metallic taste that makes you feel dizzy.

The best thing to get rid of it, is to eat frequently small healthy snacks.

5) Mood swing

I am not the type of a person that will cry watching a sad scene of a movie, but I noticed that I became so emotional.

They say rapid changes in hormone levels are believed to cause these changes in mood

6) Hating the food smells

This one is interesting because my dear friend, you will start to hate even the smell of your favorite meals.

I started asking people around me to cook for me because I couldn’t stand that smell of food cooking.

7) Swollen Feet

Specially where it comes to heels, I couldn’t wear them because they made me so uncomfortable.

In this stage, you will start to pick the comfiest pair of shoes.

What I also have noticed, is that you won’t be able to stand for a long period of time.

8) Dizziness

This one is due to the rising hormones that cause your blood vessels to relax and widen.

I experienced this, first thing in the morning. And as a motion sickness.

9) Nausea

Most of the time when I smelled the food cooking and after waking up in the morning.

10) Late period

And that was my last hint that made me get a pregnancy test.

There’s nothing better than shopping for those little cute clothes 😊

In my opinion, the toughest time of pregnancy is during the first trimester, because your body is going through a lot of changes that will make you feel different.

The good part is, during the second trimester, you get to relax because your body has adapted to the new change. So, if you are planning to travel, this is the right time to do it.

During the third trimester, it’s all about the excitements of what’s coming up: Packing your hospital bag, decorating your baby nursery room, deciding names…
